Profile and Research Interests

Undergraduate studies at the Aristotle's University of Thessaloniki (B.Sc. in  Physics 1987). Graduate studies at Harvard University (Ph.D. in Physics 1998).  He has worked as a Researcher at the ICARUS experiment (1987-1988) for the  European Laboratory for Particles Physics (CERN), as a Post-doctoral scientist  at the CDF experiment at the Tevatron of Fermi National Laboratory (1998-2001)  for the Frascati laboratory of the Italian Institute for Nuclear Physics  (I.N.F.N) and as a Research Scientist at the CDF experiment for the Fermi  National Laboratory (2001-2004).  His research interests are concentrated in  experimental high energy elementary particle physics with main focus on heavy  flavor quark physics (top and b-quark physics) as handles for testing the  Standard Model and searching for new particles and phenomena beyond the Standard  Model predictions (supersymmetry, extra dimensions, string theories, new  particle dynamics, etc); study of vector boson pair production; techniques for  tau-lepton identification. He has been active in the research, development,  design of new detectors for particle identification and in new Monte Carlo  algorithms for the production of particles in proton antiproton collisions.

Charalambos Nicolaou(MSc, Electronics Engineer)

Charalambos Nikolaou graduated from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of Democritus University of Thrace, Greece, in July 2001 with a Bachelors and Master degrees. His undergraduate project "Electromagnetic Techniques for Ground Penetrate Radar" was undertaken within the Telecommunication and Space Science Laboratory. He is currently a doctoral student at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Cyprus . Since September 2001 he has been a Research Associate at the High Energy Physics (HEP) Laboratory, Department of Physics University of Cyprus. His main research interests lie in the area of measurements and analysis of electromagnetic fields, DF techniques. The calibration of the CMS experiments Very Front Electronics boards and Biomedical Engineering in High frequency Ultrasound and the biological effect of the electromagnetic fields.
